Not going to do a list. I want to focus on my growing-up years in an alcoholic family–not as a sob story, but more of a reflection on how a young child makes assumptions based on limited (odd and dysfunctional) experiences and carries them into adulthood, not even realizing they are skewed. As I looked back I saw myself as a bully, a buffer, and a buffoon–but these are not roles I would have chosen for myself. They were almost required to survive.
