The Beginning of the End: A Night of Shocks
Shock 1: Having survived the horrendous assault by my evil stepfather
Dear God, please help me, please get me home safely, were the thoughts running through my head as I was forced back into the car.
My body trembling, my cries unheard, my red bruised face, his fingerprints still visible, please not again, as he pulled out of the woods and headed home.
Shock 2:
“Keep your mouth shut, she will not believe you, no one will believe you”, were his chilling words as he opened the door.
Trying to walk pass Mama, heading to my bedroom so she would not see my face-still red and swollen where my stepfather had hit me so hard with his open palm, -his prints were still visible.
Mama saw my face and my tears, “Mama, he hit me”, barely getting the words out of my mouth, my stepfather blurted out. “She was a sassy little bitch, she was very disrespectful, and I slapped her”.
Trying to explain to Mama what had really happened, really believing Mama would be so upset that he had hit me so hard, she would not allow that.
Shock 3:
The words out of Mama’s mouth, truly broke my heart.
“If you cannot respect your daddy, her words not mine, you get out of my house and never come back”.
“Mama, please listen to me” were the last words I could say. Little did my Mama know what he had done to me before he hit me.
Knowing at that moment, Mama would never believe anything I said against, “your daddy”.
Mama took my stepfather’s explanation, told me to leave her house, not allowing me to call my uncle to come get me, having my stepfather drop me at a motel, with only the clothes on my back.
